Jul 14,  · I Have Always Been Here Before is the kind of anthology fans only dream about--a beautifully designed track overview of an entire career. And not just any career, but that of an incredibly talented--if troubled--musician whose legacy has been ill served by a bewildering array of semi-legitimate releases/5(18).

More importantly, there is not a single Roky Erickson article I've read, ever, that didn't focus as much if not more on his struggles, then his music. And that is unacceptable. Back in `86, when Gremlins Have Pictures had just come out, I asked this friend who worked at a used record shop I frequented if he'd heard it yet. He wasn't a Roky fan.

Jan 28,  · ROKY ERICKSON-GREMLINS HAVE PICTURES: This intensely atmospheric odds 'n sods collection spotlights one of a kind artist ROKY ERICKSON (pronounced "ROCKY"), former head honcho of Texas-based garage/psychedelic rockers THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR ELEVATORS, tortured, self medicated soul and highly influential, mind-numbingly erratic solo artist/5(10).
  8. Turn says:
Listen free to Roky Erickson – Gremlins Have Pictures (Night of the Vampire, The Interpreter and more). 16 tracks (). This was compiled and edited by Karl Derfler and Craig Luckin. Roky is accompied by either The Explosives, The Aliens, Blieb Alien (!) and a gentleman named Jack Johnson on the various tracks.
  9. Voodoorn says:
Only the Explosives are remotely competent, although Roky himself is surprisingly together for many of these recordings, especially those cut in San Francisco in with guitarist Jack Johnson; the best of them is "I Have Always Been Here Before," on which Erickson acknowledges a connection between himself and fellow walking casualty Syd Barrett.5/
